How to Create and Use a Work Journal

What is a Work Journal?

Work journals are important documents that document your hours as well as the activities that you partake in here at GLOCAL! They are important in keeping yourself as well as our team accountable.

1. Navigate to the NYSN Participant Shared Drive folder.

This is the shared Google Drive with all the important documents you need to start volunteering with us! Create your work journals and look for those warm-up tasks to get started. Guide can be found here.

2. Click on Work Journal.

Open the file named "GLOCAL National Youth Service Network Work Journals".

3. Create a page on the spreadsheet for yourself.

  1. Navigate to the bottom of the page, find the tab "Blank Template"
  2. Right click it, and Select Duplicate.
  3. Right click the "Copy of Blank Template", click "Rename", and then enter your full name.
  4. At the top of the sheet, fill in your name!

4. Populate your Work Journal!

  • From here, every task/activity/workshop you complete with us can be logged here.
  • The most important cells to fill for each activity you log are the Date, Work Results/Deliverables, a shared link (if working on a document), and Hours. Please see row two to find the relevant columns.
