Canadian Civic Essay Contest 2026
GLOCAL is pleased to launch the Canadian Civic Essay Contest 2026, a national initiative inviting youth across Canada to engage thoughtfully with the public issues shaping civic life today.
Open to youth aged 15–35, this contest encourages evidence-based, accessible, and non-partisan writing on a civic issue that matters in Canada. Participants may draw on research, lived experience, or comparative perspectives with a focus on clarity, responsibility, and civic insight rather than ideology.
Who can apply? High school students, college and university students, graduate students, and professionals in Canada are all welcome. No prior research experience is required.
What can you write about? Topics may include (but are not limited to): mental health, housing, education, governance, justice and human rights, Indigenous reconciliation, economic inclusion, AI and society, public safety, newcomer experiences, and community development. Comparative and global perspectives are encouraged where relevant.
